History Of BAFC
British Airways Flying Club is one of the oldest flying clubs in Great Britain, formed
in 1948 by employees of British European Airways (BEA) and British Overseas Aircraft
Corporation (BOAC) with ex RAF Tiger Moths under the name of Airways Aero Club.
The Club was owned and operated by British Airways until November 2007.The Club is now a
subsidiary of the Arora Family Trust. Surinder Arora learned to fly at BAFC.
Over the years the Club has been based at Croydon, Biggin Hill,Denham and White Waltham,
but finally moved to its own airfield, Wycombe Air Park, in 1965.
Although initially established for Airline staff, the Club has become one of the largest
in the country and is open to the general public as well as staff of British Airways and the
Arora Group.
We are proud of our modern, well-equipped clubhouse, with its excellent facilities and
friendly staff, with a large reception/briefing area, ground training rooms, and a fantastic
lounge overlooking the airfield.
There's a TV and video-tape player to help pass the time enjoyably if you're waiting
either for the weather to clear or for your friends to return from flying. We also have PC
based flight simulator programs allowing both Instrument Training and leisure activities.
Our lounge is also a wi-fi hotspot, so you can check the weather, your e-mails or even pretend that you're in your own office!

History Of Wycombe Air Park
The airfield was known as Marlow Airport and was originally requisitioned by the Air Ministry
in 1939 and opened in 1941 as RAF Booker. Since that time it has been home to No 21 Elementary
Flying Training school, The University of London Air Squadron and Bomber Command Communications
Flight. Later, it was developed as civilian Wycombe Air Park. In 1965 the airfield was used for
the making of "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines" and in 1975 "Aces High" was also
filmed here. Since then it has been the backdrop to many a film sequence, movie and advertisement.
The long-term lease of the airfield is now held by Airways Aero Associations Limited which is part
of the Arora Group. Arora owns and operates a number of sporting venues and Hotels.
Airways Aero Associations Ltd operates the Air Traffic Control, the Rescue and
Fire Fighting Services as well as the ramp, fuel, general administration and, of course, British
Airways Flying Club.
