MORE DETAILS
You can find out the answer to many frequently asked questions on my own website

Air Traffic Control
The Air Traffic Service at Wycombe Air Park is full Air Traffic Control and is provided by
a team of experienced Air Traffic Controllers.
Each ATCO is licenced by the Civil Aviation Authority and must undergo a long period of
"on the job" training at Wycombe before being assessed by an inspector from the Safety Regulation
Group of the Civil Aviation Authority. In addition, each year every ATCO must undergo a Local
Competency Check by a SRG inspector. A Class I or II medical certificate is also necessary.
Wycombe Air Park is fortunate in having Air Traffic Control staff who have a genuine interest
in light aviation. Many of the ATCOs hold currrent PPLs (both fixed-wing and helicopter) and
also have experience of working at other Air Traffic Units and special events.

Rescue and Fire Fighting Service
We have a full-time team of fire fighters at Wycombe Air Park. When not training or maintaining
their Rescue and Fire equipment the fire fighters are involved in running the ground services,
refuelling, moving the 150 aircraft based here and general airfield maintenance. Their safety
role is taken very seriously and the CAA use WAP RFFS as a model to other general aviation airfield
operators nationwide.
The Rescue and Fire Fighting category at Wycombe Air Park is nominally Category 1, but can be
increased to Category 2 and even Category 3 if required. Each of the two vehicles are independently
capable of carrying the required amounts of fire fighting media and personnel. A spare vehicle is
available for maintenance periods or breakdowns. During weekdays, two appliances are manned by four
fire fighters plus one Low Category Aerodrome Junior Officer in charge. On weekends and Public
Holidays, the manning is three fire fighters, one of which is generally a Junior Officer. The total
complement of the RFFS consists of four Junior Officers and five fire fighters. The fire fighters
are trained on site, whilst the officers receive their training at the Serco International Fire
Training Centre at Teesside Airport. All training is compliant with both CAP 168 and 699 and is in
accordance with CAP 605.
First Aid training is received from Paramedics of our parent company, British Airways Plc as
well as at least five fire fighters holding First Aid at Work Certificates in accordance with
Health and Safety at Work regulations.
Fire training is carried out at Wycombe Air Park for other organisations including British Antarctic
Survey and the Civil Aviation Authority's own inspection officers.
Engineering
Whilst the airfield has six aircraft engineering establishments, BAFC retains its own team
of Engineers for both the BAFC fleet and also for third party aircraft. The parent company's safety
ethos pervades to the AAA engineering team who maintain the BAFC aircraft fleet to the same
exacting standards.
Avionics
Avionics installations/repairs/maintenance or sales are handled on the airfield by Lees Avionics.
Hangars
AAA operates the airfield hangarage. There are almost 100 aircraft hangared and maintained here.
The original World War II hangars have been demolished and have been recently replaced with brand new,
state of the art, buildings. What better environment could there be to hangar and maintain your
aircraft or those of the BAFC fleet?
Aircraft Fuel
There are two jet fuel and one AVGAS fuel installations at Wycombe Air Park. Competitive pricing
is afforded to those who are based here and to visitors alike.
Restaurant
"The Pad" restaurant offers home-cooked food of all varieties, from the infamous
all-day breakfast to daily specials, snacks, sandwiches and the like. For those who wish to partake
of an après flying drink, The Pad is also licenced to sell alcohol. Tel No 01494 525188
Car Park
One of the benefits of BAFC being based at its own airfield is the free-to-members car park,
which is situated only yards from the BAFC clubhouse.
